With famous composers including Dvorak originating from the city, classical music concerts are a favourite with city-dwellers, and audiences peak around the time of the Prague Spring Festival held annually in May. If you happen to obtain tickets then expect to hear a lot of Czech Opera – productions of Don Giovanni are particular favourites!

Although the operas are performed in the native tongue, the sheer elegance and loveliness of the neo-classical building means you cannot help but enjoy whatever you happen to be seeing. Tickets cost anything from 50Kc to 600Kc. A must.

A delightful puppet theatre, featuring the marionette duo Spejbl and Hurunek, a sort of Czech Punch and Judy, that were created by Josef Skupa during the first half of the twentieth century.
